Veatch Woodcraft Paintings

Audra Veatch has been painting her pictures for nearly 30 years. She is the originator of this type of painting although there are a few that try to duplicate her work. Her paintings are unique in every way. From the wood used in the actual picture, to the frames, which she also makes herself.

Audra was born and raised on a farm near Lancaster, Missouri in 1918. She grew up as most did during that time, living off the farmland and what we would call "roughing it" today. Audra rode her horse to school everyday and had very little in the way of possessions. These experiences have given her the ability to create her pictures from actually living within the environment she paints. Living around barns and knowing the typical country life, Audra brings her paintings to life with old wagon wheels, fence posts, buckets, watering troughs and outbuildings looking worse for their wear. These, all combined with the main focus of a majestic barn of many different styles or an old ghost town, help us to feel the life as it was back in Audra's day.

Audra move to Laporte, Colorado in 1959 with her husband Orville and their two daughters. At the passing of her husband, she moved to Greeley, Colorado where she still resides with her dog Gidget and her cat Bootsy.
